Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1209
FMI: 2

Description: EBP signal erratic, intermittent, or incorrect
Troubleshooting:
The Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor measures exhaust back pressure which is used to
control the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system.
Probable causes:
1) Biased EBP sensor or circuit

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1209
FMI: 3

Description: EBP signal Out of Range HIGH
Troubleshooting:
The Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor measures exhaust back pressure which is used to
control the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system.
Probable causes:
1) EBP signal circuit OPEN or short to PWR
2) SIG GND circuit OPEN
3) Failed EBP sensor

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1209
FMI: 4

Description: EBP signal Out of Range LOW
Troubleshooting:
The Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor measures exhaust back pressure which is used to
control the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system.
Probable causes:
1) EBP signal circuit short to GND
2) VREF circuit OPEN
3) Failed EBP sensor

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1209
FMI: 7

Description: EBP signal not responding as expected
Troubleshooting:
The Air Management Systems (AMS) test is a test performed on the Exhaust Gas Recirculation
(EGR) system. During the test, engine speed is increased, injection timing and Injection
Control Pressure (ICP) are fixed, and the EGR valve is closed. The EGR valve is later opened
during the test. Airflow is measured during the test and if the measurements are not within the
minimum and maximum values expected a code is set.
Probable causes:
1) EBP signal not seeing a difference in pressure from low idle to high idle
