Troubleshooting:
DESCRIPTION:
Minimum rail pressure for injection not achieved.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Fuel rail pressure.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Always enabled
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
MIL
TYPCIAL DURATION:
1. DD13 – 90 Seconds of Cranking.
2. DD15 – 60 Seconds of Cranking.
3. DD 16 – 60 Seconds of Cranking.
DASH LAMPS:
MIL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERIFICATION:
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Clear codes using diagnostic service tool.
3. Start the engine.
4. Check for codes.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Fuel filter integrity (loose caps, plugged filters)
2. Fuel supply issues (fuel level, fuel aeration, leaking fuel lines, fuel restrictions).
3. High pressure pump internal failure.
4. Fuel contamination.
5. Rail pressure sensor.
6. Motor Control Module (MCM).

Make: Detroit
Engine: DD15 GHG17 (2017 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 157
FMI: 18

Description: Fault of the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor, Wiring or Quantity Control Valve
Troubleshooting:
NOTE: The motor control module (MCM) monitors the fuel rail pressure and when fuel rail
pressure deviation is greater than 200 bar higher than requested fuel rail pressure for eight
seconds, the MCM sets the code.
DESCRIPTION:
Fuel rail pressure high.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Fuel rail pressure.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Closed loop & actual RP greater than 200 bar of desired RP.
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
8 seconds
DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL
ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%
VERIFICATION:
Steady engine rpm 1400 – 1500 (2 minutes).
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Faulty fuel rail pressure sensor.
2. Faulty quantity control valve (QVC).
3. Faulty MCM.
4. Faulty wiring.
