Make: Detroit
Engine: DD15 GHG17 (2017 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 520360
FMI: 4
Description: Soot Sensor Inter-Digital Electrode Positive Short Circuit to Ground Diagnostic
Troubleshooting:
DESCRIPTION:
Soot sensor inter-digital electrode (IDE) short to ground.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Soot sensor IDE current.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Soot sensor enabled.
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Always enabled
TYPCIAL DURATION:
5 seconds
DASH LAMPS:
MIL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERFICATION:
Verify repairs by using diagnostic tool soot sensor panel inspection routine.
NOTE: When the engine starts, soot sensor will cycle through three modes:
1. Protective heating of exhaust temperature dew point 210°C (410°F) to allow moisture to
evaporate.
2. Heater active regeneration 800°C (1472°F) to clean soot.
3. Measurement mode for duration of key cycle.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Damaged pins.
2. Bent pins.
3. Spread pins.
4. Corroded pins.
5. Unseated pins.
7. Faulty wiring.
8. Faulty soot sensor.
9. Faulty harness connector.
