NOTE: When the engine starts, soot sensor will cycle through three modes:
1. Protective heating of exhaust temperature dew point 210°C (410°F) to allow moisture to
evaporate.
2. Heater active regeneration 800°C (1472°F) to clean soot.
3. measurement mode for duration of key cycle.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Damaged pins.
2. Bent pins.
3. Spread pins.
4. Corroded pins.
5. Unseated pins.

6. Signs of moisture in the connector.
7. Faulty wire.

Description: Pressure Limiting Valve Staying Open
Troubleshooting:
NOTE: The pressure limiting valve will open when rail pressure is above 1150 bar. The Motor
Control Module (MCM) will command a lower rail pressure, trying to force the pressure limiting
valve closed. If the pressure limiting valve does not close, a fault code is generated. The
condition that caused the Pressure Limiting Valve (PLV) to open must be addressed.
DESCRIPTION:
Pressure limiting valve, failed to close.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Pressure limiting valve.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
RP closed loop control & RPM greater than 0.
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
10 seconds
DASH LAMPS:

VERFICATION:
Engine idle (1 minute).
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Damaged needle return line.
2. Damaged amplifier return line.
3. Damaged lines.
