Make: Volvo
Engine: All Engines (2017 Emissions)
Fauld Code: P102400
PID: EMS
SPN: N/A
FMI: N/A
Description: Cold Start Cylinder 4 Fuel Injector Offset Learning at Max Limit
Troubleshooting:
Fuel Injector operation is controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM provides a
common supply voltage to injectors 4,5,6 (Bank 2) and there are individual output transistor
drivers inside the ECM to control each individual injector’s ground circuits. There are two
solenoid circuits within the injector; a Needle Control Valve and a Spill Valve. Although they are
separate circuits, the same fault code is used to identify a fault in the Needle Control Valve
circuit and/or the Spill Valve circuit.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Injector (INJ) activated
2) Cylinder balancing data too high
Observable symptoms
1) Low Power
2) Uneven operation
3) Abnormal noise
Probable cause
1) Excessive wear or damage to cylinder liners, piston, or piston rings
2) Valves and rocker arms
3) Camshaft
4) VCB control valve sticking or slow to close
5) Injector 4

Description: Volvo Compression Brake (VCB) Control “2” Circuit
Troubleshooting:
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) Short circuit to battery voltage on A14.EB:46
Observable symptoms
1) Reduced engine braking since the compression brake cannot be activated
2) Reduced gear selection performance for some automatic transmissions
Probable cause
1) Connector
2) Wiring harness
3) Short circuit in the compression brake solenoid valve

Description: EGR Differential Pressure Sensor “A” Circuit Above Range
Troubleshooting:
This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) monitors and evaluates malfunctions in the (EGR)
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Diff Pressure. A faulty (EGR) Exhaust Gas Recirculation differential
Pressure can lead to uneven running and response problems.
Conditions for diagnostic trouble code (DTC):
1) The sensor signal is above normal range
Probable cause
1) B166: EGR Differential Pressure Sensor
Detailed information
Activation
1) When the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is active the engine control module (ECM)
investigates during an extra driving cycle whether the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) should
be lit. If the DTC is active after the investigation the lamp lights up.
Deactivation
1) Erase diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
