Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 102
FMI: 7

Description: IMP signal not responding as expected
Troubleshooting:
The Intake Manifold Pressure (IMP) sensor measures charge air pressure entering the air
intake throttle duct. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) uses readings from the IMP sensor
for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and turbo wastegate control.
Probable causes:
1) Biased IMP sensor or circuit

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 102
FMI: 10

Description: Boost slow response fault
Troubleshooting:
The Intake Manifold Pressure (IMP) sensor measures charge air pressure entering the air
intake throttle duct. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) uses readings from the IMP sensor
for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and turbo wastegate control.
Probable causes:
1) Charge Air Cooler (CAC) or CAC hose leaking
2) CAC clogged (ice)
3) Turbocharger 2 (TC2) wastegate stuck or sticking open
4) Restricted intake air system
5) Exhaust leak
6) Exhaust Restriction
7) Failed turbocharger(s)
8) Wastegate linkage adjustment or leaking wastegate
9) Boost solenoid failure – open
10) Low fueling / under fueling
11) IMP sensor port blocked
12) Biased Intake Manifold Temperature (IMT) sensor
13) Compressor coking
14) Valve lash
15) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) fault
16) Engine or valve train damage

Description: Overboost
Troubleshooting:
The Intake Manifold Pressure (IMP) sensor measures charge air pressure entering the air
intake throttle duct. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) uses readings from the IMP sensor
for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and turbo wastegate control.
Probable causes:
1) Wastegate stuck closed
2) Wastegate actuator boost supply line cracked over valve cover (under thermal wrap)
3) Control solenoid malfunction
4) Wastegate linkage adjustment
5) Air connection from solenoid to wastegate
6) Oetiker clamp failure or loose connection
7) Biased IMT sensor
8) IMT sensor full of soot (not responding fast)
9) MAF sensor
10) Biased Barometric Absolute Pressure (BARO) sensor
11) Intake throttle valve not following command
12) IMP sensor
13) Valve lash
