Make: Detroit
Engine: DD15 GHG17 (2017 & Newer)CPC
PID: N/A
SPN: 110
FMI: 16
Description: Coolant Temperature High
Troubleshooting:
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Faulty coolant inlet temperatures sensor.
2. Faulty coolant outlet temperature sensor.
3. Low coolant level.
4. Blockage in radiator and charge air cooler.
5. Damaged fan belts.
6. Improper location of fan shroud.
7. Improper radiator hose condition (no collapsed hoses).
8. Faulty fan operation.

Description: Failed Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Heat Up Too Slow Compared to Modeled
Coolant Temperature)
Troubleshooting:
DESCRIPTION:
This fault sets when the engine coolant temperature has not increased to match a modeled
temperature range.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Engine coolant outlet temperature.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
1. Vehicle speed greater than 45 km/hr. (27 mph).
2. Engine run time after engine start greater than 5 minutes.
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
Five seconds
DASH LAMPS:
MIL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERIFICATION:
Road test the vehicle for 40 minutes.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
Faulty coolant thermostat.
Make: Detroit
Engine: DD15 GHG17 (2017 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 111
FMI: 1
Description: Coolant Level Very Low
Troubleshooting:
DESCRIPTION:
Coolant level below normal range.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Coolant level
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Always on
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
Two seconds
DASH LAMPS:
CEL
ENGINE REACTION:
No reaction, or shutdown depending on parameter settings.
NOTE: Make sure that the coolant is not overfilled. The min/low and max/full marks on the
coolant surge tank represent the acceptable operating range of the coolant level. During
normal operation, the coolant level will expand and contract between the two lines, depending
on temperature. Overfilling the coolant reservoir will cause the surge tank to push coolant out.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Coolant level.
2. Faulty Engine Coolant Level (ECL) sensor.

Troubleshooting:
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Improper coolant level.
2. Faulty coolant level sensor.
3. Leaking cylinder head gasket.
4. Leaking air compressor head gasket.
5. External coolant leak at hose connections.
6. Coolant in oil.
7. Loose or faulty radiator cap.
8. Leaking in cab heating system.
