Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1189
FMI: 4

Description: TC2WG short to GND
Troubleshooting:
The Turbocharger 2 Wastegate Control (TC2WC) is a valve in the number two turbo that
diverts exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel. Diversion of exhaust gases from the turbo
regulates the turbine speed.
Probable causes:
1) TC2WG control short to GND

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1189
FMI: 5

Description: TC2WC open load/circuit
Troubleshooting:
The Turbocharger 2 Wastegate Control (TC2WC) is a valve in the number two turbo that
diverts exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel. Diversion of exhaust gases from the turbo
regulates the turbine speed.
Probable causes:
1) TC1 solenoid circuit OPEN

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 1209
FMI: 0

Description: EBP above desired level
Troubleshooting:
The Air Management Systems (AMS) test is a test performed on the Exhaust Gas Recirculation
(EGR) system. During the test, engine speed is increased, injection timing and Injection
Control Pressure (ICP) are fixed, and the EGR valve is closed. The EGR valve is later opened
during the test. Airflow is measured during the test and if the measurements are not within the
minimum and maximum values expected a code is set.
Probable causes:
1) Biased Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor or circuit
2) Restricted Exhaust
3) Plugged Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)
4) Plugged Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
5) Failed Turbocharger

Description: EBP below desired level
Troubleshooting:
The Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor measures exhaust back pressure which is used to
control the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system.
Probable causes:
1) Biased EBP sensor or circuit
2) Plugged EBP sensor tube
3) Failed Turbocharger
