Description: Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank Level 3 Condition – Tank Level Very Low
Troubleshooting:
NOTE: This fault indicates that the DEF tank level is very low. DEF must be added to the DEF
tank (Minimum 1/4 tank). After refill, idle engine for five minutes; if fault does not go inactive or
dash lamp stays on, refer to OEM literature for DEF level sensor diagnostics.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
DEF tank level is very low.

NOTE: The Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) digital outputs have
the same SPN as some Motor Control Module (MCM) faults.
The diagnostic tool standard makes the distinction between the MCM
and CPC when diagnosing a fault.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Battery voltage.
2. Faulty Controller Area Network (CAN) line.
3. Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) needs reprogramming.
