Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 191
FMI: 3

Description: TOSS/VSS signal out of range HIGH
Troubleshooting:
Transmission tailshaft speed is measured by a sensor mounted to the Transmission that reads
the rotation of a 16 tooth gear installed at the rear of the transmission. The Electronic Control
Module uses this reading along with tire size and axle ratio to calculate vehicle speed.
Probable causes:
1) TOSS / VSS sensor circuit short PWR
2) TOSS / VSS sensor failure

Description: TOSS/VSS signal out of range LOW
Troubleshooting:
Transmission tailshaft speed is measured by a sensor mounted to the Transmission that reads
the rotation of a 16 tooth gear installed at the rear of the transmission. The Electronic Control
Module uses this reading along with tire size and axle ratio to calculate vehicle speed.
Probable causes:
1) TOSS / VSS sensor circuit OPEN
2) TOSS / VSS sensor circuit short PWR
3) TOSS / VSS sensor failure

Description: Torque Limitation – Too High ECT
Troubleshooting:
Indicates when engine coolant temperature is too hot
Probable causes:
1) Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) too hot

Make: International
Engine: MaxxForce DT (2010 & Newer)
PID: N/A
SPN: 521
FMI: 2

Description: Brake applied while APP applied
Troubleshooting:
The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor reads the position of the accelerator pedal. The
Electronic Control Module compares signals from two separate sensors to determine pedal
position. When the pedal is pressed, resistance decreases and the change in voltage is
interpreted by the Electronic Control Module
Probable Causes:
1) The Operator was applying Accelerator Pedal and brake pedal at the same time
2) APP1 sensor or circuit fault
3) Brake Pedal switch or circuit fault
