Description: Diesel Oxidation Catalyst Inlet Temperature Out of Range Low Preventing HC
Dosing
Troubleshooting:
NOTE: The fault indicates that the High Idle Regen (HIR) was aborted due to the Diesel
Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) inlet temperature not reaching the minimum of 270°C (518°F) to
initiate dosing during an HIR.
DESCRIPTION:
DOC inlet temperature out of range low.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Exhaust temperature
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Always on
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
2 seconds
DASH LAMPS:
MIL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERFICATION:
Parked regen
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Intake Throttle Valve – perform intake throttle service routine to see if commanded position
can be achieved.
2. Exhaust leaks.
3. Intake manifold leaks.
4. Charge Air Cooler (CAC) leaks.
5. Jake brake operation.
6. Thermostat.
7. Faulty Diesel Oxidation Filter (DOC) inlet temperature to the DOC outlet temperature and
the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) outlet temperature sensors.
8. Bent pins.
9. Spread pins.
10. Corroded pins.
11. Faulty DOC inlet temperature sensor.

Description: Soot Sensor Tube Clogged / Defect
Troubleshooting:
DESCRIPTION:
Soot sensor blockage or tampering.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Soot sensor protection tube temperature.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Always on
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCEY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.
TYPCIAL DURATION:
5 seconds
DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERFICATION:
Verify repairs by road test with loaded trailer for 30 minutes.
NOTE: When the engine starts, Soot Sensor will cycle through three modes: protective heating
of exhaust temperature dew point 210°C (410°F) to allow moisture to evaporate, heater active
regeneration 800°C (1472°F) to clean soot, and measurement mode for duration of key cycle.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Tampered soot sensor.
2. Damaged soot sensor.
3. Proper mounted soot sensor.
4. Loose soot sensor.
5. Faulty soot sensor.
